We the People Wednesdays Action for March 18, 2026

ACTION 1:

About 50,000 TSA officers have been working without pay since Feb. 14 as Congress remains at an impasse over funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the T.S.A., because of a disagreement on immigration enforcement.  Following the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by DHS officers in Minneapolis, Congressional Democrats insisted on a series of reforms to ICE practices as a condition for further DHS funding.  The reforms include prohibiting masks, requiring judicial warrants to enter private property, and verification of non-citizenship before detention.  So far Republicans have refused to support these common-sense reforms.

Write to Senator McCormick to support reforms to reign in illegal ICE tactics.  Adapt this sample text:

Dear Senator McCormick,

  Please allow DHS funding to resume by supporting common-sense reforms to ICE practices.

Sincerely,

<your name and zip code>

ACTION 2:

In a severe blow to the Trump administration’s health agenda, a federal judge in Massachusetts on Monday blocked the government from implementing a series of decisions on vaccines made over the last year by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.  The judge’s ruling halted major changes to national vaccine policy that included cutting down the number of diseases covered by routine immunization, and restricting access to Covid vaccines.  George Washington University Law professor Richard Hughes led the lawsuit on behalf of several medical organizations and individuals.

Write to thank Professor Hughes.  Adapt this sample text:

Dear Professor Hughes,

  Thank you for challenging unscientific and illegal changes to U.S. vaccine policy.

Sincerely,

<your name and zip code>
